The iPhone 15s have yet to be announced and their high-end successors are already starting to reveal some of their secrets…

If the haptic buttons of the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max could ultimately not see the light of day, the more expensive versions of the iPhone 16 could, for their part, benefit from larger screens.

A new screen format for iPhones in 2024?

In 2017, with the launch of the iPhone X, Apple significantly overhauled the form factor of its smartphones. Permanently separating from its iconic button located just below the screen, with the exception of SE models (although major changes could be made with the future model), the iPhone X materialized some significant changes with the arrival of larger screens, and the birth, therefore, of the now famous notch.

While iPhones have remained relatively design-wise since then, and contented themselves with minimal year-over-year improvements, Apple may well be making a change with the models coming next year. . Yes, it won’t be for this year yet…

The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max will sport larger screens

On Twitter, the famous analyst Ross Young, renowned for the reliability of his information, confirmed that the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max will ship larger screens than usual. The latter would respectively be equipped with 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch panels, thus upsetting the current standards of 6.1 inches for the Pro models, and 6.7 inches for the Pro Max versions.

According to the first rumors that revolve around the iPhone 16 Pro Max (or Ultra), it would not be satisfied with having a larger screen than that of its big brothers. It would indeed be powered by a faster chip, would offer various notable improvements to the camera and would opt for totally wireless charging. If we will still have to wait wisely before seeing these rumors be confirmed or not, let’s hope that the Cupertino company will be able to surprise us this year when its iPhone 15 range is formalized.

Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max

  • Dynamic Island
  • Overall performance
  • Screen quality

Tim Cook usually concludes his presentation of a new iPhone by stating that it is the best ever. He’s absolutely right when he talks about the brilliant iPhone 14 Pro Max in so many ways. We appreciate the quality of its screen, the phenomenal computing power of the SoC A16 Bionic, the increased autonomy, and above all, the improvement of the photo and video parts, already powerful on the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Dynamic Island is a great way to camouflage the hideous notch that sits on iPhone screens…and even make it acceptable. In the end, this gadget is more useful than futile, and we quickly appreciate its presence.

There remain the annoying points, such as the absence of an electrical adapter, the slow charging of the battery, and of course, the price. To afford the “best iPhone ever designed”, you will have to pay at least 1,479 euros for the 128 GB version, an increase of 220 euros compared to the 13 Pro Max. The 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB versions are offered at 1,609, 1,869 and 2,129 euros respectively, i.e. increases of 230, 260 and 290 euros compared to the iPhone 13 Pro Max of the same capacity.

The iPhone 14 Pro Max is undoubtedly a great product. But its price becomes a deterrent for most potential buyers. In its 1 TB version, it crosses the 2,000 euro mark, like Samsung and its Galaxy Z Fold 4 (2,159 euros). After all, if buyers are ready to pay such sums, manufacturers would be wrong to deprive themselves of it…
