The first ironings with a steam generator can be daunting. Philips promises easy handling thanks to the OptimalTEMP system, an automatic temperature adjustment.
Switching from a simple iron to a steam generator can sometimes take some getting used to. Indeed, one can fear to see its most fragile parts damaged by the high pressures, but especially the temperature emitted by a still poorly controlled device. To prevent the user from seeing his favorite pants, his favorite shirt or his lucky outfit burned by the heat of the iron, Philips has equipped its new Series 6000 steam generator with OptimalTEMP technology. This is not the first time that this system has been deployed on this type of equipment; a precise temperature has been chosen by the manufacturer, low enough not to damage textiles, but high enough to give satisfactory ironing results.

Of course, this limited temperature may not be sufficient for the most marked creases, and it is therefore the steam that will allow you to obtain perfectly ironed linen. The Philips Series 6000 steam generator, with a power of 2400 W, generates 8 bars of pressure and its steam output reaches 130 g/min. This seems very sufficient for daily use, but if necessary, the pressing function allows you to increase up to a steam flow of 600 g/min. Enough to overcome creases, even on the thickest fabrics such as cotton twill or denim.
To generate this steam, Philips has provided the Series 6000 with a 1.8 l water tank, which allows an ironing session of 1 h 30 min if we rely on the technical sheet. Note that you have to remove the tray to fill it before replacing it, which is not necessarily very practical. To avoid seeing it scale, it has a Smart Calc Clean system that warns the user that it is time to carry out maintenance. Please note that this steam generator does not have an anti-limestone cartridge that you just have to remove from the tank before cleaning it. It will therefore be necessary to launch a cycle to get rid of the scale residues – this one only lasts 2 minutes, according to the instructions for use.
Good point, the iron weighs only 1.2 kg, which makes it easy to handle. In addition, Philips promises that the glide is easy thanks to a titanium coating (SteamGlide Advanced soleplate). Finally, the manufacturer indicates that the Series 6000 benefits from a very compact architecture in order to store it easily after use.
