“Yes, I met her mother one day and I fell in love with the little one who was not even a year old. I started keeping her and I remained friends with the mother. She went to Niger, then she came back to France. She was very busy. I told him : ‘If you want, I keep her at home, but you have to do things in order’. So it’s a simple adoption. Maya can still see her mom and dad, but I am in charge of her education“, explained Isabelle Mergault. “This is not a full adoption“, then clarified Anne-Elisabeth Lemoine. “No, she is not stripped of her rights. I just wanted her to have a good education. (…) I have completely changed my life since adopting my daughter, she believes that I am omnipotent, that I am strong, so I am strong and omnipotent because she thinks that I am!“, added Isabelle Mergault.
