“The ambassadors of France, Japan, South Korea, Malta, the Slovak Republic and Ecuador will be summoned tomorrow (Sunday)” and “a strong protest will be expressed to them,” said the Israeli Ministry of Defense. Foreign Affairs, after the vote of these countries in favor of full membership of the Palestinians in the United Nations.

The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Saturday the summoning on Sunday of the ambassadors of the Security Council countries having voted in favor of the full membership of the Palestinians in the United Nations. “The ambassadors of France, Japan, South Korea, Malta, the Slovak Republic and Ecuador will be summoned tomorrow” and “a strong protest will be expressed to them,” the ministry said on its X account.

A protest will also be presented to the embassies of the countries that voted for the Algerian proposal, which was rejected, aimed at improving the status of Palestinians who have had the lower status of “non-member observer state” since 2012.

“Israel will not accept the establishment of a terrorist state”

According to the ministry, the message addressed to the ambassadors is the following: “A political gesture to the Palestinians and a call to recognize a Palestinian state – six months after the massacre of October 7 – is a bonus for terrorism.” “Israel will not accept the establishment of a terrorist state that endangers its citizens,” he added.

The Palestinians asked the Security Council to accept that a “Palestinian state” already recognized by the majority of capitals takes its “legitimate” place within the United Nations. But during the vote on Thursday, the United States, which did everything to delay the vote, did not hesitate to use its right of veto, which it regularly uses to protect its Israeli ally.
