“It makes my wife and my children scream”: Xavier de Moulins reveals this astonishing ritual when he writes his books: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

Two days after the release of his book The end of a worldpublished by Flammarion, Xavier de Moulins was the guest of C to youFriday February 9, 2024. “I hope that by reading this book everyone will want to jump on the train and love for real”, he declared hoping to please readers. Like most writers, the presenter of 19.45 of M6 also has its rituals for writing and finding inspiration. If Honoré de Balzac could drink up to 50 coffees a day to avoid blank page syndrome, for his part, Xavier de Moulins has his own technique. “My ritual is to put myself in my bubble”he explained firstly before adding: “And I write in the dark. I need to be in the dark and in the light of my computer”. A habit which does not fail to annoy his wife, Anaïs Bouton and his three daughters Gaïa-Lou, Tosca and Bianca.

Xavier de Moulins: “They have the impression of seeing a vampire”

“Which makes my wife scream and my children. They feel like they’re seeing a vampire.”, he confided again, bursting out laughing. Despite everything, the journalist cannot help but put himself in such conditions to find inspiration and write. “Everything has to be black and I sit down with my computer, I write in my bed”, he further clarified. It’s not really complicated for him to write in the dark since he manages to find the time to do it “early in the morning” Or “very late at night”, depending on whether or not he hosts the television news. If he has a very busy schedule between the presentation of his different information programs, the 52-year-old journalist still needs to write for his well-being and balance. “My method is a little bit every day. It’s to have an appointment every day with a text and wait for it to come out”he revealed before adding: “Sometimes it’s a paragraph, sometimes it’s a page, two pages, three pages, sometimes it’s more. Not waiting to have time but stealing time to do what you love”. Xavier de Moulins has already written eleven novels and does not intend to stop there.
