“It reminds us of our 19th birthday”: Zendaya and Tom Holland regularly rewatch Spider-Man together, and it’s so cute

And no, you’re not the only ones organizing little “Spider-Man” movie nights: Tom Holland and Zendaya are big fans too!

In 2017, Spider-Man: Homecoming marked Tom Holland’s solo debut in the MCU, a year after the young actor first donned the Spider-Man costume in Captain America: Civil War. The film also marked his first collaboration with Zendaya (MJ), who has since become his life and on-screen partner.

Visiting the recent Critics Choice Awards, Tom Holland admitted, speaking to Extra on the red carpet, that he often watches his own projects.

I’m definitely looking at my projects. I sometimes think I’m my own best critic. I really know what I can do, and sometimes I see something and I say, ‘Damn! I could have pushed more there.’

And among the films he watches in the company of Zendaya ? The first part of the saga Spiderman of course, just to remember the good old days!

Zendaya and I watch Spider-Man 1 every now and then and it reminds us of being 19 and what it’s like to make those movies. I love these movies and I love savoring these moments, so I try not to watch them as often as I’d like because it’s so special. It’s such a luxury, such a gift to be able to sit back and sort of relive your youth. I would not be the man I am today without this work and I am very grateful and excited about the future and what it might hold.

Without a doubt, the role of Spider-Man propelled the career of Tom Hollandwho had already started so well with his remarkable performance in The Impossible (2012) by Juan Antonio Bayona, alongside Naomi Watts, nominated for an Oscar for the occasion, and Ewan McGregor.

Another of his projects that Zendaya watched with him is The Crowded Room, the actor’s series for Apple TV+. “She watched this series with me while we edited it. I used to send her episodes and ask her what she thought, so she’s definitely seen it more times than I would have imagined”, he said, noting that he has not rewatched the series since its release in June.

A Spider-Man 4?

Last November, during a press conference with the Critics Choice Association (via Collider), Tom Holland revealed to be in talks for a Spider-Man 4 in an interview with Collider. However, the actor also said that he would only do so under certain conditions.

All I can say is that we started having conversations about what that could potentially look like, for a fourth interpretation of my character. Whether or not we can find a way to do the character justice is another thing. I feel very protective of Spider-Man. I feel very, very lucky that we’ve been able to work on a franchise that has gotten better with each movie, that’s been more successful with each movie, which I think is really rare, and I want to protect its legacy . So I won’t do another one for the sake of doing another one. It will have to be worth it for the character.

If the first opus grossed 880.1 million internationally, the second, Spider-Man: Far From Home, reached new heights with 1.91 billion dollars in global box office revenue. Released in 2021, the last part of the saga, Spider-Man: No Way Home, still by Jon Watts, also met with great success, notably thanks to the returns of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in the hero’s costume – and 1, 13 billion dollars generated.

The first 2 parts of the Home Trilogy can be seen again in streaming on Disney+. The 3rd part is, for its part, available on VOD on dedicated platforms.
