The family of Marina Carrère d’Encausse is not really ordinary. Daughter of insurer Louis Édouard Carrère and historian Hélène Carrère, the host is also the sister of writer Emmanuel Carrère and lawyer Nathalie Carrère. If she has traced her path alone since the beginning of her career, the friend of Michel Cymès keeps amazing memories of her childhood. “We had a childhood that was pretty much anything with her”, continued Marina Carrère d’Encausse. The host remembered the schemes put in place by her famous mother about the school. “For example, she pushed us not to go to school in the morning because she didn’t want to get up to make breakfast. So we dragged our mattresses to her room when my father was not not here, she joked, still surprised to have been brought up like this. In the morning she would say to us: ‘well, if you children don’t go to school, we’ll have breakfast in bed’. It was special!” In fact, Hélène Carrère has always been a permissive mother, but because she had blind faith in her three children.
Marine Carrère d’Encausse: “It was not easy”
“We had the right to dry off as long as we wanted as long as we didn’t repeat a year. I did that a bit with my children afterwards, I thought it was nice. My mother didn’t bother with anything, added Marina Carrère d’Encausse on the set of Chez Jordan. At the time, my brother didn’t like sports so she used to excuse him: ‘didn’t go to sports because sports’. Everything was like that! She has a very whimsical side, very original but with a shield of modesty.” With hindsight, Marina Carrère d’Encausse recognizes that her education was special and more than original. “Having mom as a mother, it rather pushes you to succeed. There is still an important requirement, a requirement for success, independence..., she analyzed. It was rather a gift even if it was not easy.”
She herself became a mother of three children, Marina Carrère d’Encausse made astonishing revelations to their subjects in the Télé-Loisirs Women on TV podcast. “I have three children aged 33, 30 and 26. One is a screenwriter, one is a graphic designer and the latter does both auditing and politics.
