Giant has lifted the veil on the Stormguard E+ 1 and E+ 2, two electric bikes with an imposing size but high-end technical sheets. Inevitably, the price is felt.
The Taiwanese manufacturer Giant is strengthening its offer of electric bikes with two new, freshly presented models: the Stormguard E+ 1 and E+ 2. Let’s get to the heart of the matter now. The duo generally shares the same technical data sheet, with one difference: the type of hub with variation.
The first named opts for an automatic variation means signed Enviolo. With it, the electric bike automatically and automatically changes gears to adapt as much as possible to your current needs, depending on your speed in particular. The second falls back on a continuously variable hub, also called hubs with integrated gears.
Big autonomy on the menu
Here, the system is no longer electronic, but mechanical. This is the Shimano Nexus 5, which allows you to shift gears even when stationary and avoids derailing. In both cases, the duo offers interesting solutions, whether for the city or for strolling on some beaten paths.
The rest of their specs specifically focus on high-end components. Evidenced by the carbon belt transmission – a Gates Carbon Drive CDX – both dirt-repellent and easy to maintain and the SyncDrive Pro2 central motor with a torque of 85 Nm. For starts and pick-ups, it should rock.

In order to make the ride as dynamic and natural as possible, Giant has integrated a total of six sensors to best calculate the user’s needs. Also, the EnergyPak Smart 800 Wh battery offers a range varying between 70 and 250 km, depending on the conditions and the assistance mode used.
In terms of suspensions – these are full-suspension electric bikes – the Stormguard E+ 1 and E+ 2 rely on a Fox AWL suspension fork with 100 mm travel, combined with a Fox Float DPS rear shock. For comfort and shock absorption, this configuration should be satisfactory.
Salty prices
Also count on Shimano Deore BR-M6120 four-piston hydraulic disc brakes as well as 27.5-inch Maxxis Rekon tires with a width of 2.6 inches, specifies the technical sheet of the product. This has the effect of reinforcing its “mastodon” appearance that its frame and size already conferred on it.
Available in four sizes (S, M, L and XL), the Stormguard E+ 1 and E+ 2 will be available in Europe at the respective prices of 7999 and 6499 euros, during the year 2023, specifies InsideEVs.
