Unveiled before its time, the technical sheet of the Pixel 8a announces good things for Google’s mid-range smartphone. So much so that the differences with the Pixel 8 are quite minimal.
If you like the range of Google Pixel smartphones, you know that there are generally two approaches when it comes to purchasing a new model. The first is to wait until October and choose between Pro where the standard, as needed. The second way to proceed is to wait a few more months to get your hands on the midrange derived from the previous two. We are talking about mid-range, but it seems that the firm seeks to minimize the gap between its smartphones. Until the Pixel 6a, the differences with the standard version were quite marked, but since the Pixel 7a, they are less obvious. Obtained by Android Authority thanks to an internal source, the technical sheet of the next Pixel 8a shows that this will be even more the case, especially in terms of the screen which is almost a perfect copy of that of the Pixel 8.

Google seems to have understood that a low refresh rate disappoints users. The arrival of 90 Hz on the Pixel 7a was already a step in the right direction, and the Pixel 8a makes it a second. Its screen will measure 6.1 incheswill display a definition of 2400 x 1080 pixels with a 120Hz refresh rate and an peak brightness of 1,400 nits. Apart from the size, it is the same as that of the Pixel 8. Please note that the rounding of its corners is not exactly identical, but it is close.

The little disappointment comes from photo sensors. It is very simple : the Pixel 8a will have the same as the Pixel 7a. The latter captures very good quality photos all the same, so it is not prohibitive. Especially since the Pixel 8a will be helped by a Google Tensor G3 processor, like his elders. The only difference comes from the plastic packaging of the chip, but this should not impact the performance of the mobile. Finally, the future mid-range will be able to connect to an external screen like the 8 and 8 Pro and autonomy should be ensured by a 5,000 mAh battery.
