The championship trophy hasn’t even been handed over when the world finds out that FC Bayern are throwing out Kahn and Salihamidžić. In his analysis, ex-national player Dietmar Hamann is tough, says that the point in time cannot be surpassed in terms of disrespect.

Former Bayern professional Dietmar Hamann has sharply criticized FC Bayern for separating from the board members Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidžić. “That can’t be surpassed in terms of disrespect,” said the former international in his capacity as an expert for the Sky TV channel. Bayern had recently won the championship in a dramatic Bundesliga final, and several media outlets reported the decision against Kahn and Salihamidžić almost simultaneously. The club later confirmed the decision.

“That’s unworthy,” said Hamann about the timing and the way. If FC Bayern think it will get better this way, they will “look around”. Hamann said he had “no understanding whatsoever” of the process. “That’s unworthy of FC Bayern. You have to be careful that they don’t split up.”

There had been speculation for weeks about the professional future of CEO Kahn and sports director Hasan Salihamidžić in Munich. Originally, decisions were only expected at the Supervisory Board meeting, which was postponed to next Tuesday. However, there is said to have been an extraordinary meeting of the committee around Honorary President Uli Hoeneß beforehand. Jan-Christian Dreesen is to succeed Kahn.

Kahn was already absent from the Cologne stadium, club circles cited flu as the reason. He caused irritation with a tweet after the end of the game. There he congratulated the team on the championship title. He continued: “I would like to celebrate with you, but unfortunately I can’t be with you today because the club has forbidden me.” Kahn subsequently edited the tweet and added the words “from the club”.
