‘I’ve never seen Endgame’: This star was there since the very first Marvel, and she stopped watching them

Playing Pepper Potts since the first part of “Iron Man”, actress Gwyneth Paltrow recently declared that she had stopped watching Marvel Cinematic Universe films.

As early as 2008, when Jon Favreau and Robert Downey Jr. laid the very first stone of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Iron Man, it was there! Founding member of the greatest franchise in the history of cinema, Gwyneth Paltrow already lent her features to Pepper Potts (Tony Stark’s assistant who would become his wife) 15 years ago.

Since then, she has participated in no less than 7 Marvel feature films (including the very first Avengers, Robert Downey Jr. having strongly insisted that she appear in the film’s cast). However, the one who was at Iron Man’s bedside for his very last moments in Endgame did not go to see this final bouquet at the cinema.

Indeed, as she recently declared during a question-and-answer session at the Red Sea Film Festival, Gwyneth Paltrow never made it past Phase 3 of the MCU as a spectator:

“To be honest, I stopped watching them at a certain point. I never saw [Avengers] Endgame. I can’t keep track of which is which. But maybe I should, at some point.”

Marvel Studios

The actress, who does not plan to participate in Marvel’s next projects, as she confided last April, seems in any case to have good memories of her beginnings within the famous superheroic universe.

“The first film we made was very different from the others because the studio didn’t think it was going to be a big success”she said on stage at the Red Sea Film Festival, aware of having participated in a separate project.

“They hired Jon Favreau as director, and he was great. And then they hired Robert Downey Jr., who was impossible to hire at the time. His career was at an all-time low.”

A real success when it was released in theaters in 2008, Jon Favreau’s Iron Man marked the start of the great Marvel epic in cinema.
