Woodle, a big "Halloween" fan and director of a local cinema, proposed to his partner in 2016. He was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in 2019, followed by chemotherapy and radiation. But Woodle's condition worsened, reports The Post and Courier, a daily from Charleston, South Carolina, the tragic story.

Cinema owner Paul Brown, Woodles boss, wanted to please the 29-year-old. He contacted director David Gordon Green (45), who is responsible for the sequel "Halloween Kills". This should appear in cinemas in 2021. Brown's request: a private screening of the new flick for Woodle. Green agreed – and Curtis became aware of the cancer-stricken fan.

The 61-year-old contacted Woodle, they spoke on the phone and discussed the couple's wedding plans. Then the surprise: Curtis offered to conduct the wedding in person. The time had come on September 13th. Woodle's health had deteriorated dramatically by then, and he was unconscious when Curtis called to get married at 10:30 p.m.

"Anthony and Emilee, all that is promised to everyone is this moment," Curtis is quoted as saying by the newspaper. "We live and love in this moment. May the blessings of God rest on you, may his peace be with you, may his spirit illuminate your heart now, in this moment. With the power that has been given to me by the Internet, is I take great pleasure in informing you that you are now married. " Just minutes after that, at 11:17 p.m., Woodle lost the battle with cancer.
