Almost exactly two years ago, “Aquaman” star Jason Momoa, 44, and his wife Lisa Bonet, 56, publicly announced that they had separated. But it wasn’t until Monday, January 8, 2024 that the actress filed for divorce, as several US media outlets unanimously reported. Just one day later, this was apparently already completed.

Divorce finalized after just one day

As “TMZ” writes, the divorce was officially approved on Tuesday, January 9th. The celebrity portal relies on the court documents that it is supposed to have. Since the former dream couple had apparently already reached an amicable agreement, the process was now completed – just one day after it was opened. According to documents, Momoa and Bonet will have joint custody of their two children. They would share the living expenses for the kids and not make any formal maintenance payments. In addition, Momoa and Bonet waived their right to spousal support. Her official single status was restored in July of this year.

The two stars had been together since 2005 but only married in October 2017. They have two children together – daughter Lola, born in 2007, and son Nakoa-Wolf, born in 2008. Until their separation, the actors were considered one of Hollywood’s dream couples.

The couple is said to have been separated since 2020

Momoa and Bonet have apparently been living apart for much longer than previously thought. They officially announced their separation to the public in January 2022, but in the documents submitted, Bonet now lists the date of separation as October 7, 2020, as “People” reports. The reason noted in the application for dissolution of the marriage is the “irreconcilable differences” that are often common in Hollywood divorces.

The couple had already indicated in their joint statement in January 2022 that they had separated on good terms. “The love between us continues and develops the way it wants to be recognized and lived. We give each other the freedom to be who we learn to become…” it said on Instagram at the time.
