Big plans for a new casino in New York’s Times Square

If rapper Jay-Z has his way, Broadway will soon be getting its first casino. In an open letter he addressed all New Yorkers.
Opening a casino in New York is not that easy. The city of New York has to issue a license for this – and this is highly coveted: Many top-class bidders are vying for the opportunity to open their own casino in the metropolis. Among them is superstar Jay-Z (53), who wants to make this dream come true together with his entertainment agency Roc Nation.
Jay-Z dreams of a casino in Times Square
In order to make his dream of his own casino in New York’s Times Square come true, the rapper and music producer has now taken an unusual measure: in an open letter, published by Roc Nation on Instagram and printed in several New York dailies, the 53-year-old turns to the residents of the Big Apple and asks them to support his efforts.
In the letter, titled “It’s Times Square Time,” Jay-Z and his agency explain, among other things, how their “innovative plan” will benefit city dwellers. Specifically, it is about the opening of a new Caesars Palace Casino, According to a report by “TMZ”. to be opened on the eighth floor of an existing skyscraper in Times Square. Because the casino would be in close proximity to Broadway, some theater owners and producers are strongly opposed to opening a luxury arcade.
Broadway as the perfect casino location?
In the open letter, Jay-Z and his team announce that their plan will not only bring more tourists to the city, but that it will also improve the lives of New Yorkers. Among other things, the opening of a casino in Times Square has a positive effect on the shops in the area, local public transport will benefit from it, and there will be more investment in sanitation and security. The business plan protects the interests of the actors, producers, theater staff, writers and patrons who represent the heart and soul of Broadway.
A Caesars Palace in Times Square would benefit everyone in New York: the area’s hospitality workers, retailers and the surrounding neighborhood. “Our offer includes $115 million for diverse theater programs, including day care for Broadway employees and their families,” the letter announces. The aim of the new casino is to capture the energy of Times Square.
Among all the bidders, Jay-Z and Roc Nation are the only party that want to open a casino in the famous Times Square. All other bidders would apply for other locations in New York. Accordingly, the winner of the new license should be selected from all submissions by the end of the year.
