JCDecaux wins the exclusive advertising concession for Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport in China

(Boursier.com) — JCDecaux SE, the world’s number one outdoor communications company, announces that JCDecaux China has won an exclusive advertising contract with Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport, following a call for tenders.
This new contract, effective February 1, 2024, expands JCDecaux’s presence in Chinese airports by ensuring a strong presence in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, one of the most dynamic in the world, which has more than of 86 million inhabitants.
Drawing on around 400 existing advertising devices, this new partnership aims for the highest international standards in airport advertising. JCDecaux will invest in new giant iconic digital screens, data and software, to support the digital transformation of the airport. This digital transformation will make it possible to attract new advertisers to the airport looking for quality and efficient media assets.

JCDecaux aims to offer passengers an enriched experience by broadcasting the right advertising message in the right place at the right time. In line with the CSR commitments of both companies, sustainable development and safety will be strong priorities of the contract, with clear objectives in terms of renewable energy, recyclable materials and waste management.

Shenzhen is the country’s first special economic zone, created in 1979. Young and dynamic, this city has an average age of around 32.5 years in 2020, remaining below the national average which is around 39 years. Shenzhen is now the High Tech City, a dynamic city of more than 17.5 million inhabitants, an important financial and industrial center, home to renowned Chinese international companies, such as Tencent Holdings and BYD.

Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport is an elegant and modern architectural building, designed by Italian architect Massimiliano Fuksas, which was opened to the domestic public in 1991 and became an international airport in May 1993. Since 1996, it has been the fourth largest airport in China with nearly 53 million passengers in 2023, including 51 million domestic passengers.
In China, JCDecaux has operated Hong Kong airport since its opening in 1998 and gained a foothold on the continent in 2005 with advertising concessions at Shanghai Hongqiao and Shanghai Pudong airports. Since then, JCDecaux has operated in Beijing Capital, Beijing Daxing, Chengdu Shuangliu, Chengdu Tianfu, Chongqing Jiangbei and Macau airports.
