Before her second attempt with Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lopez was afraid of being alone. She had to learn to be there for herself.
Almost 20 years after their broken engagement, singer Jennifer Lopez (54) and actor Ben Affleck (51) found each other again in 2021, and “Bennifer’s” wedding followed just a year later. A surprising turn of events that the singer had actually no longer expected: like Lopez now As she revealed on “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” she was terrified of being alone forever.
She had to learn to be alone and to “be her own best friend.” “I’m much better at it now and it was hard work,” explains Lopez in an interview with presenter Kelly Clarkson (41). It is not easy to break such patterns.
Second relationship with Affleck was ‘strange turn of life’
In the interview, J.Lo also reflects on her relationship with her current husband Ben Affleck: It was a “strange turn of life” that the two found each other again. Her story also inspired her new album “This Is Me… Now” – a sequel to her 2002 album “This Is Me… Then”, during her first relationship with Affleck.
J.Lo is a “hopeless romantic”
Her story is not a “fairy tale story, but a real story,” Lopez continued. That’s why it wasn’t easy for her to show herself so vulnerable in her new album and a film of the same name. She describes the project as “the story of the hopeless romantic that I was and still am.”
Lopez can look back on several relationships. From 1997 to 1998 she was married to a Cuban waiter, followed by a relationship with Sean “Diddy” Combs (54). From 2001 to 2003 she was married to the dancer Cris Judd (54). From 2002 to 2004 she was in a relationship with Ben Affleck and briefly engaged.
From 2004 to 2014, Lopez was married to singer Marc Anthony (55). She has two children with him. This was followed by a relationship with the dancer Casper Smart and with the baseball player Alex Rodriguez (48). She was also engaged to the latter. There were first rumors of a reunion with Ben Affleck in April, and the couple finally got married in July 2022.
