New to the White House. On Saturday Christmas, Jill and Joe Biden chatted on video calls with military personnel deployed overseas. For the occasion, the American president and his wife had a newcomer by their side: Commander, the four-month-old puppy they recently adopted. On that call with members of the Marines, Air Force, Space Force and Coast Guard, based in Romania, Qatar and Bahrain, the couple introduced Commander, seated between them. “As your Commander-in-Chief, I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you, thank you, thank you. We are grateful for your courage, your sacrifice, not only yours but that of your families as well, ”declared the Democrat in particular. The day before, he and Jill Biden had visited sick children at a pediatric hospital in Washington.

The puppy was rather wise during the event, seated between the president and the First Lady. He joined the White House this week, six months after the death of Champ, the eldest of their two German Shepherds, whom the couple adopted shortly after Joe Biden was inaugurated as Barack Obama’s vice president in 2009. Major, their other dog, has distinguished himself in recent months: he bites two people at the White House, incidents that were not serious but which resulted in the dog, adopted in a shelter three years ago, two sessions training for a few days in Delaware in the spring.
