Joel Schumacher: "Batman" director dies at the age of 80

US director Joel Schumacher is dead. The filmmaker died of cancer in his home city of New York on Monday (June 22). This is reported, among other things, by the industry paper "Variety". Schumacher was 80 years old.

Schumacher has directed two films in the "Batman" series: "Batman Forever" (1995) and "Batman & Robin" (1997). For "Falling Down" (1993) he shot with Michael Douglas (75). He also directed the two John Grisham bestsellers "The Client" (1994) and "The Jury" (1996) in the 1990s.
