Actress Johanna von Koczian has died at the age of 90. She celebrated great successes with “Single Bells” and “Das bißchen Household”.

The charismatic Berlin multi-talent Johanna von Koczian (1933-2024) has died. As her former agent for the “German Press Agency” announced on Thursday, the artist fell asleep peacefully in Berlin on Tuesday surrounded by her family. She was 90 years old.

Unforgettable in “Single Bells”

Her portrayal of the self-centered and extremely rich grandmother Lilibet Treichl in the strange German-Austrian Christmas comedy “Single Bells” (1997) by director Xaver Schwarzenberger (77) is unforgettable.

Her filmography also includes the TV series “Die Landarztin” (2006-2013) and “Das Traumschiff”, the popular series “Praxis Bülowbogen” (1987-1990) as well as several “Tatort” and “Der Inspector” cases . In 1955, Johanna von Koczian, then still a dark-haired beauty, entered the film business with “Apoll von Bellac”.

She was last seen in “Danni Lowinski – The Last Dance” and “In All Friendship – Dance with the Devil” in 2013.

A Berlin all-rounder

Von Koczian also enjoyed great success as a singer. She appeared on the ZDF hit parade with the hit “Das bitchen Wirtschaft” (1977). As a presenter, she led through the ZDF music quiz program “Do you recognize the melody?” The mother of one daughter, actress Alexandra von Koczian (born 1972), also worked as a writer. She wrote children’s and young adult literature.

Johanna von Koczian won numerous prizes on the boards that mean the world. She was awarded the first theater prize in 1958 and has received the Golden Curtain several times, most recently in 2008. From 2017 she lived in seclusion Berlin nursing home.
