The professional letter “Satellifacts” announced on January 20 that actor Johnny Depp will play Louis XV in Maïwenn’s next film. This feature film is devoted to Jeanne du Barry, the king’s last mistress, played by Maïwenn herself.
The film will be produced by the company Why Not Productions, which has already accompanied the director on her latest project, “DNA”, released on May 19, 2021 in France. The shooting of this new film should begin on July 8, in the Paris region. Several sequences will take place at the Palace of Versailles.
First role for a long time
Following accusations of violence by his ex-wife Amber Heard, the American actor complained of being the victim of a boycott by Hollywood and saw his contracts fall, one by one.
