A left-wing extremist was a caretaker for the Berlin police for several months – at the headquarters of the special forces in Lichterfelde, of all places. The police confirmed that. Accordingly, the man was hired in July by the state’s own real estate management GmbH. A few days ago he was caught using marijuana on the police compound.
The emergency services also found small amounts of marijuana when searching his apartment, the police said on Tuesday evening. The police investigated and established that the 54-year-old is listed as a criminal under the heading “Politically motivated crime – Links”.
Based on the personal details presented, a reliability check is actually carried out at the Berlin police, writes the “Berliner Zeitung”. It is unclear why the corresponding entry was not noticed in advance. The report went on to say that the man was banned from entering the house with immediate effect. “The access keys were of course withdrawn immediately,” said a police spokesman.

The caretaker was also responsible for another building, where the new anti-terror center is currently being built.
Police union spokesman Benjamin Jendro spoke of an unbelievable incident that could hardly be beaten in terms of embarrassment. “We are talking about a department with highly sensitive activities and units for which anonymity is vital,” said a statement on Twitter. The case shows how sketchy the security check is.
