Traveling to Menton on Monday, the president of the National Rally (RN) Jordan Bardella was accompanied by the former boss of Frontex, Fabrice Leggeri, number three on the RN list for the next European elections.
The president of the National Rally (RN) Jordan Bardella was traveling to Menton, in the Alpes-Maritimes, on Monday to talk about immigration. The president of the RN denounced a ruling by the Council of State taken on February 2 which prevents France from pushing back illegal migrants without processing their request for residence. A first campaign trip with his new recruit, Fabrice Leggeri, former director of Frontex and number three on the RN list for the European elections.
“Tools like Frontex […] were misguided by the Commission”
Borders are his domain. In Menton, Fabrice Leggeri makes his first campaign trip. Having remained at the head of Frontex for seven years, he today denounces the ideological turn taken, according to him, by the European border guard agency. “When I was an actor at the heart of the system, I can testify, tools like Frontex intended to strengthen controls at the external borders of the European Union were misused by the Commission to become a kind of super NGO,” said -he affirmed.
“The candidacy of Fabrice Leggeri is a real asset”
A senior civil servant who worked for several government ministries, Fabrice Leggeri also worked in the 2000s for the European Commission. His knowledge of institutions represents an asset for Jordan Bardella, sometimes the victim of incompetence lawsuits from his adversaries. “The candidacy of Fabrice Leggeri, at my side, is a real asset for the credibility and implementation of our future migration project, both within the framework of the European campaign but also tomorrow when we will be in charge,” said launched the president of the RN.
