Juliette Labous: who is Clément Berthet, the companion of the tricolor cyclist?

She is one of the most scrutinized riders in the Tour de France Women: Juliette Labous, 23, wears the French colors in the competition. Sunday, she set off from Paris for a first stop in the heart of the capital linking the Eiffel Tower to the Champs-Élysées. The native of Besançon who is part of the DSM team has a few titles to her credit, on the Tour of Italy or during the French Championships, last June.

And when she’s not cycling competitively, Juliette Labous travels the roads with her most faithful companion and sidekick: her boyfriend. Like her, Clement Berthet is a cycling professional and part of the AG2R Citroën team. And between two-wheel enthusiasts, it’s been going on for six years! “We are better together”, like to say the lovebirds on Instagram. And to take up the challenge of the Tour de France Women, the very first for Juliette Labous, the young woman can count on the unfailing support of her 24-year-old companion! “One more week watching TV to support my Juliette Labous on the first Women’s Tour!”, he wrote on Instagram. Native Longchaumois in the Haut-Jura, Clément Berthet now lives in Montfaucon, in the Lot. His mother is a teacher in the small town where he grew up and his father runs a lodge there. The young man made his cycling debut at theUC Morez, then to VC d’Ornans. Recruited by Team Pro AG2R Citroën, after leaving Delko in mid-2021, he hopes one day to start a Tour de France too.

This Monday, the riders of the Tour de France Women will link the town of Meaux to Provins, for a stage of 136.5 km. This Tuesday, they will go from Reims to Epernay, then from Troyes to Bar-sur-Aube for the fourth stage which will extend over 127 kilometers. The final will take place on July 31, from Lure to La Super Planche des Belles Filles, a sports resort in the Vosges mountains. How far will Juliette Labous go? Case to follow.
