Jungle camp start 2023: Tessa Bergmeier causes arguments

The jungle camp started its 16th season on Friday, January 13, 2023. At the beginning there was immediately a culinary test and camp quarrels.

The search for the successor to Filip Pavlović, 28, has finally started: on Friday evening, January 13, 2023, RTL showed the first episode of the 16th jungle camp season. After swearing by kangaroo testicles, Hartwich’s successor Jan Köppen, 39, was allowed to take office. After his first “I’m a star – get me out of here!” cry, the new jungle camp moderator took a seat next to Sonja Zietlow, 54, and immediately gave an update on the candidate Martin Semmelrogge, 67, who had been announced but had not yet landed in Australia. “The Australian authorities won’t let him enter the country, he’s stuck in Doha,” said Köppen. He has not yet been issued a visa, which could have something to do with his criminal record. Other stars, on the other hand, made it to Down Under on time.

Jungle camp as a family tradition

Musician Lucas Cordalis, 55, the self-proclaimed “jungle prince”, wants to bring the crown back into the family as the son of the first jungle king Costa Cordalis, †75, son-in-law of jungle camper Iris Klein, 55, and brother-in-law of jungle queen Jenny Frankhauser, 30. Radio presenter Verena Kerth, 41, partner of musician Marc Terenzi, 44, would like to romantically become “the queen” of her boyfriend. Because Terenzi was crowned king of the jungle in 2017.

Model Tessa Bergmeier, 33, describes herself as “funny, loud, colorful and emotional” and made it clear right from the start: “I would never eat animals in my life, my body is not a grave.” Trash TV macho Luigi “Gigi” Birofio, 23, showed little understanding when they first met. Due to a corona infection, his participation was on the brink in the past few days. But the reality TV actor tested negative just in time for the start and is highly motivated.

Also fighting for the jungle crown are “DSDS” singers and “Checker vom Neckar” Cosimo Citiolo, 41, “Playboy” and reality TV star Cecilia Asoro, 25, and YouTube star and influencer Jolina Mennen, 30. Actress Jana Urkraft Pallaske, 43, designer and soccer star wife Claudia Effenberg, 57, top model Papis Loveday, 46, who traveled to Australia with his Senegalese outfit, musician Markus Mörl, 63, and make-up artist, reality TV star and jungle show runner-up Djamila Rowe, 55, who was surprisingly announced as another candidate shortly before the start.

Culinary disgust exam

After a relaxed get-together on the beach, the candidates had to put on their camp outfits and were checked for contraband. Class clown Cosimo Citiolo secretly wanted to take apple, cheese and banana to the camp, but was caught. To collect the first stars, a parachute jump out of the plane or a balancing act on a tightrope followed into the jungle adventure. The campers mastered the first tasks with flying colours, but things looked different during the first joint culinary jungle test.

Gigi Birofio knows that the following applies to this task: “You are losing when you are puking.” Crocodile eyes, pig penis or bull testicles, the celebrities had to eat a few treats within 60 seconds. The task was not feasible for all the stars, Birofio did not remain true to his own motto, his choking and that of Citiolo caused laughter among the campers. Cordalis had problems with the time, the vegan Bergmeier refused the task to Effenberg’s displeasure. Overall, the stars only managed five stars.

Camp disputes around Tessa Bergmeier

A camp Zoff around the “loud and emotional” Tessa Bergmeier was inevitable from the start. But some participants did not expect that the mood could change so quickly after moving in. When allocating beds, Jolina Mennen and Tessa Bergmeier clashed. “She felt very quickly stepped on the tie,” explained Mennen, who took the first conciliatory step towards the model. In order to bring calm to the camp, the campers chose Markus Mörl as the first team leader, followed by Lucas Cordalis.

But the disputes continued, this time Bergmeier discussed either with Cosimo Citiolo, who denies having broken her foot playing soccer on the RTL show “König der Kindsöpfe”, Claudia Effenberg or Cecilia Asoro. “Everyone is against me, I don’t want anything bad for anyone,” said the ex-GNTM candidate, crying in an interview, and only calmed down again with Papis Loveday’s good persuasion. “Discussing with her doesn’t help,” Gigi Birofio also stated soberly after a few hours together with Bergmeier.

And so, in the end, it came as it had to. According to the spectator voting, in which Djamila Rowe was banned without reason, the polarizing Tessa Bergmeier has to take part in the first individual jungle test. Viewers can see how she will fare on Saturday from 10:15 p.m. on RTL (also via RTL+).
