In 2025, all Jura residents will have access to fiber optics. This is the commitment made by Altitude Fiber 39, which has been deploying optical fiber since 2021 in the Jura, by public service delegation (DSP).
A first phase of 8 years
It has been 10 years since the fiber arrived in the Jura territory. A first optical network was deployed, on an experimental basis, in 2012-2013, to serve 9 pilot municipalities (1). “In 2015, the Department started with a clean sheet,” recalls Clément Pernot, president of the departmental council. On this date, it chose to set up phase 1 of the department’s digital development program, in collaboration with the EPCIs (public establishments for inter-municipal cooperation). “This phase provided for both operations to increase the speed and the start of the construction of the fiber network with the deployment of 52,000 sockets, which represents 40% of the sockets to be built”, details the Department.
