Jürgen Holtz: Mourning for the Berlin actor

The Berlin actor Jürgen Holtz is dead. According to the "Berliner Zeitung" he died on Sunday at the age of 87 from the effects of cancer. Holtz was born in Berlin in 1932 and, according to the Berliner Ensemble, has been performing theater almost continuously since the mid-1950s. He was also seen in numerous film and TV roles.

He had appearances, for example, in the ZDF series "Our Teacher Doctor Specht" or in the crime series "Tatort". He also became known as Nagger "Motzki" in the ARD series of the same name from 1993. In the movies "Good Bye, Lenin!" and he also participated in "Rosa Luxemburg". Holtz was awarded the Adolf Grimme Prize and "Actor of the Year" (1993), among others. In 2019 he played the main role in the production "Galileo Galilei", partly naked.
