Director Zack Snyder contacted the co-creator of “Rick and Morty” to offer his help in adapting the animated series into a feature film.
It’s a true lesson in humility that was given to us by Zack Snyder. The director of Justice League – who will unveil his new Netflix feature film Rebel Moon next December – has offered his services to the co-creator of his favorite animated series.
While we are still waiting for the film Community, adapted from his famous comedy series which ended at the end of its 6th season, screenwriter Dan Harmon has also started to tease a feature film project derived from his other successful series, Rick and Morty.
While the irreverent animated series will make its big return this Monday, October 16 on Adult Swim, and several new seasons have already been ordered by the channel, a Rick and Morty film is also on the cards of the day ?
While nothing has yet been decided, Zack Snyder offered Dan Harmon to help him bring this project to fruition. In an interview given to Hollywood Reporterthe American screenwriter thus reveals having been approached by the filmmaker, a huge fan of the series.
“He didn’t contact me and say ‘this is my turn to do it or anything'”he details during this interview. “He’s a super fan of the show, and he just asked me how he could help me make the movie using his fame.”
To our colleagues, Dan Harmon reveals that he spoke with executives from the Warner Bros. studio. the Rick and Morty film project, with the aim of offering fans “a super bad-ass episode” : “My philosophy would be to do a Rick and Morty adventure, spending more money than usual, and stretch it out to 90 minutes.”
Everything therefore suggests that the Rick and Morty film would be an extension of the series, and not a live action adaptation. Remember that during the promotional campaign for season 6, clips saw the legendary Christopher Lloyd and Jaeden Martell slip into the skin of the two characters.
