The singer presented a range of evidence in the form of receipts, social media posts and media reports to prove his innocence. A woman had apparently claimed via an anonymous Twitter account on Saturday that the alleged attack took place on March 9, 2014 in a hotel in Austin, Texas.
Justin Bieber writes on Twitterthat he usually doesn’t respond to such things because he has had to deal with allegations throughout his career. "But after speaking to my wife and team, I decided to comment on a topic tonight." The singer continues: "Rumors are rumors, but sexual abuse is something that I don't take lightly. I wanted to speak up straight away, but out of respect for the many victims who have to deal with this issue every day , I wanted to make sure I got the facts together before I make an explanation. "
"This story is not true"
Bieber explains, "This story is not true," and provides emails, receipts, and articles about an appearance that indicate that he stays in an Airbnb property the night of the alleged attack and in another hotel the following night would have. He was with his then girlfriend Selena Gomez (27) and their friends, said the 26-year-old.
At the end of his tweets, the singer writes, "Any report of sexual abuse should be taken very seriously, so my answer was necessary." This story is "factually impossible, so I will work with Twitter and the authorities to take legal action."
