"I know I failed": Justin Timberlake apologized to his former partner Britney Spears on Instagram.

Justin Timberlake (40, "Hindsight") apologized to his former partner Britney Spears (39) and his colleague Janet Jackson (54) on Instagram. He also addressed his words directly to the two of them.

Timberlake stated that he knew that in many moments he did not act properly "and that he benefited from a system that condones misogyny and racism". He is sorry that in times of his life his actions contributed to the problem or that he did not campaign for the right thing. In particular, he wanted to apologize to Spears and Jackson because they are important to him, he respects them "and because I know that I have failed".

The entertainment industry is "flawed" and particularly promises success for "white men". Because of his "ignorance" Timberlake did not notice when this was also the case in his life. But he never wants to benefit again when others are put down. The singer knows that he was "not perfect" and he sees this excuse as "a first step" that does not undo the past.

Spears shouldn't hold a grudge

At the beginning of February the documentary "Framing Britney Spears" was published in the USA, in which the relationship between Timberlake and Spears, who were a couple between 1998 and 2002, is partly discussed. "Britney has no grudge against Justin for something he said or did," an insider allegedly told Us Weekly shortly thereafter. The singer is of the opinion that she and Timberlake were "young and in love" and "both did stupid things" "when they were together".

Timberlake and Jackson, on the other hand, were the center of a controversy known as "Nipplegate". Timberlake Jackson tore part of their costume off during a joint appearance during the Super Bowl halftime break in 2004. The singer's chest was exposed.
