Kansai Yamamoto is dead. The Japanese fashion designer succumbed to cancer on July 21, as his daughter Mirai Yamamoto has now announced on Instagram. The 76-year-old had fallen asleep peacefully in the presence of his loved ones, the actress writes in her post. "In my eyes, my father was not only the energetic and versatile person who knew the public, he was also thoughtful, kind and loving." He had taught her never to lose positive thinking in times of failure and to always see challenges as an opportunity for self-development.

According to a statement by his fashion company Kansai Super Studio, Yamamoto did not allow this positive attitude to be taken until the end. The funeral of the designer suffering from myeloid leukemia had already taken place in the closest family. It is not yet certain whether a larger funeral will take place.

His avant-garde fashion was popular in London, Paris or New York in the 1970s.
