Kanye West’s shocking comments on abortion

Kanye West gave his first speech in the 2020 presidential race in Charleston, US, on 19. The rapper made some rather shocking comments about abortion.

Is Kanye West freewheeling? On Sunday July 19, the American rapper held a rally in Charleston, United States, to launch his candidacy for the November presidential election. During this first meeting of the race at the White House, reserved for a few accredited guests, Kim Kardashian's husband made some rather shocking comments about abortion.

Kanye West did not hide his opinion on the subject and revealed in a rather incoherent and anti-ivg speech, having himself "Almost killed her daughter" : "My wife called me crying and told me that she was pregnant (…) For the first three months, we considered not having this child". However, the couple reportedly had a "revelation" and ultimately decided to keep the baby. "I almost killed my daughter! ", he then hammered.

The rapper went on to talk about his own father. “My father wanted my mother to abort me. My mother saved my life. There would have been no Kanye West because my father was too busy "he said, starting to cry.

A million dollars to discourage mothers

In his speech, Kanye West said abortion should remain legal but there should be more procedures in place to discourage mothers. In particular, financial aid. "Everyone who babysits gets a million dollars", he offered as an example, not specifying whether he would dig into his own fortune to help them.

Every woman should have the right to have an abortion without having to undergo deterrent techniques. This is a personal and often difficult decision to make, but above all a fundamental right. Access to abortion has become complicated in the United States, however. Alabama has banned all abortions, and five states – Georgia, Ohio, Kentucky, Mississippi, and Louisiana – have passed restrictive laws preventing women from having an abortion after six weeks of pregnancy, a date far too early . According to Amnesty International, no less than 42 abortion-related restrictions were enacted between January 1 and May 15, 2019. In addition, the country lacks clinics and practitioners accepting abortions for young women. As the organization warns, these new laws can only result in injuries and deaths: the United States has the highest maternal mortality rate in developed countries.
