Karin Hanczewski turns her back on the “crime scene”. The last Dresden case with her role as investigator Karin Gorniak will be shown in 2025.

The actress Karin Hanczewski (41) has been part of the Dresden investigative team in the popular Sunday evening crime series “Tatort” since 2015. However, this will soon be over: As the responsible MDR announced, the actress said goodbye to her role of chief inspector Karin Gorniak “at her own request”. The episode “Heart of Darkness” will be her last.

“Nine years and a total of 18 episodes, as Karin Gorniak, I went through all the ups and downs of television police investigations,” Hanczewski said in a statement. “The work that we explored together, exploring the human, the abysmal and the humor was always enriching for me,” the actress continues. She was very happy to be part of the Dresden team and experienced a lot of sympathy. The decision to leave was not easy for her, but it was time to move on and tell new characters.

Last episode with Hanczewski probably 2025

The first “Tatort” starring Hanczewski aired on March 6, 2016. Since 2019, the Dresden team has consisted of investigators Gorniak, Leonie Winkler (Cornelia Gröschel, 35) and Peter Schnabel (Martin Brambach, 55). The last episode with Hanczewski is expected to be on TV in early 2025.
