Karl-Theodor and Stephanie zu Guttenberg can be proud of their two daughters. Mathilda and Anna have grown into impressive women over time.

The daughters of the former Defense Minister Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg, 49, and his wife Stephanie, 44, are now going their own different ways. But what connects Mathilda, 18, and Anna zu Guttenberg, 20, is their love for horses. Both cut a very good figure in the saddle.

Mathilda zu Guttenberg studies in Los Angeles

The sisters love riding. Mathilda has decided to ride dressage and regularly posts pictures with her horse “Fly Rio” on Instagram. For several weeks she has been studying at UCLA, the University of California in Los Angeles.

That is why the family fled to the USA

In 2011, the zu Guttenbergs left their homeland Germany in a hurry. The reason was the scandal surrounding Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg’s doctoral thesis, many of which had been exposed as plagiarism. After his first doctorate was ultimately revoked, the then defense minister resigned from all offices and the family relocated to the USA.

His wife Stephanie has been a partner in a start-up from Bonn since returning to Germany. Her heart’s concern is digital education. Among other things, the 44-year-old wants to sensitize young people to the responsible handling of personal data. Her husband built a new foothold and invested in start-ups that deal with future technologies. There are now many voices who would like to see him back in politics.
