Kate Gelinsky: That's why she wants to be Miss Germany

16,000 women wanted to become Miss Germany in 2021, ten beauties per federal state have made it to the next round and are still fighting for their dream. Fashion influencer Kate Gelinsky wants to win the crown for Lower Saxony – but it is not about the title of the most beautiful in the whole country.

At this point we have to come out: We just love the style of Kate Gelinsky aka Kate Glitter. The lively Lüneburg woman enchants us every day with her colorful looks, beautiful interior inspos and photos of her family including the bulldog Winnie. Kate has already achieved a lot as an influencer, working with brands such as Nespresso and Aigner, among others. Her next goal: the Miss Germany title. Kate talks to Brigitte.de about her very personal mission.

Fashion professional, mom, business woman and wife. In short: power woman

As Miss Germany you imagine a beautiful woman with model dimensions. Kate fulfills this cliché optically, but to get the title in 2021, it takes more than a beaming smile. Under the motto "Empowering Authentic Women", the future Miss must stand for more than a flawless look. A concept that convinces Kate.

Dear Kate, let's start at the very beginning. What made you decide to take part in Miss Germany?

Kate: "I didn't even think about taking part until my friends gave me the idea and finally just registered. The entire Miss Germany concept is currently changing. I like that, because one really works for me beautiful woman with more than a pretty face. True beauty also includes life experience and a message that one wants to convey. "

And what is the message with you?

"My aim is to support women who return to work after the birth of their child or who might want to start their own business."

You're a working mum yourself. Did you have bad experiences?

"Yes, there were a lot of obstacles put in my way. Before my son's pregnancy I worked as a graphic designer, but then my boss made it pretty clear to me that a part-time job after the birth would not be an option. So I'm looking for one I looked for plan B and finally started my own blog. "

That sure sounds easier than it was in the end, right?

"Oh yes! In the beginning everything was so difficult, I didn't even know where to start. It was a long way until I got a foothold as a self-employed person with a child. At some point I realized that none of my friends had given birth to hers Child was able to work part-time again and if so, then under such miserable conditions that I thought: It just can't be!

I would like to contribute something to enable women to work part-time or full-time in the home office again after giving birth. We have all seen that this is possible through Corona. We mothers can do it! The employers just have to understand that and as long as I can only reach one of them, participating in Miss Germany has paid off for me. "

Do you have any suggestions on how to improve the situation of working women?

"Yes, I have. And there is one main topic that drives me: If you as a mother decide to stay with the child and work part-time, then you only pay half of the amount into the pension fund. In my opinion there should be a state minimum pension that makes it possible to support the parent who is at home all the time. "

In August you met your fellow campaigners for the first time at the "Live Experience" in Hamburg – all authentic and strong women, according to the motto of this year's Miss Germany election. That creates a certain amount of pressure, doesn't it?

"I was super nervous and excited! Fortunately, that was completely unfounded in the end. I was immediately received in a friendly manner, there was a great, inspiring energy. That is not always a matter of course among so many women."

Under the critical eyes of the Miss Germany crew, you also had to prove yourself in various challenges and do your first shoots. The task of your presentation was also to describe you with just one word. You have chosen "Optimist". How so?

"I asked my community in advance and 'optimist' was mentioned very often. That really suits me, because I had to overcome hurdles in my life in order to ultimately create something big, very beautiful. As a symbol I then chose a glass of water that is logically always half full for me. "

What happens after the live experience?

"From now on, everyone can vote for their favorite. The 16 best candidates will then make it to the last round."

Then we'll keep our fingers crossed for you! Good luck Kate and thanks for the great interview!

Together with nine other fellow campaigners, Kate Gelinsky had to prove her modeling talent at the Live Experience in August.

Are you convinced of Kate's mission? Then you can vote for the influencer in the voting. On February 15, it will be decided in the Europa-Park-Arena Rust who will be the next Miss Germany and thus Leonie von Hase's successor.
