Actress Winona Ryder (48) has provided another reason why you just have to like Keanu Reeves (55). In an interview with the British "The Times", she described an upsetting incident at the beginning of her career that she had to experience at the age of 20 on the set of "Bram Stoker's Dracula" (1992). In order to bring her into the emotionally unstable state in which her character Mina Harker is at a point in the horror film, she should be insulted by her co-stars. But Keanu Reeves (55) resisted the questionable instructions from director Francis Ford Coppola (81, "The Godfather").
"To put it in context: I should cry," Ryder recalls the moment almost 30 years ago. "Richard E. Grant, Anthony Hopkins, Keanu … they should literally make me cry." Coppola even suggested that the other actors should call her a whore for this. But her film fiance Jonathan Harker (Reeves) and vampire hunter van Helsing (Hopkins) did not play along, Ryder reports. "Keanu refused. Anthony refused."
No wonder that Ryder and Reeves have been connected since then. They have played in three other films so far and are "great friends," says the 48-year-old in the "Times" interview. Her conclusion, with which many people can identify: "I love Keanu." In spite of his inappropriate behavior, Ryder no longer has any resentment against Coppola: "Everything is fine with Francis and me again."
