St. Pauli ends dry spell

After five games without a win at FC St. Pauli the knot bursts. The Kiezkicker win against Jahn Regensburg in the evening and say hello from the top of the table again. For Bayern it is the fourth home defeat in a row.

After a dream start, FC St. Pauli scored three important points at SSV Jahn Regensburg in the tight promotion race of the 2nd Bundesliga. The Hamburgers won in the evening in a thrilling game 3:2 (2:0) and stormed to the top of the table.

Etienne Amenyido (7th minute), Guido Burgstaller (11th / penalty kick) with goal number 16 of the season and substitute Daniel-Kofi Kyereh (66th) scored in front of 7605 spectators for St. Pauli. After the break, Der Jahn reared up with great morale, but was only able to shorten the gap twice through attackers Andreas Albers (56′) and David Otto (73′).

At first, the Regensburgers were overrun in their fourth home defeat one after the other. A system change to a three-man chain with captain Benedikt Gimber as the central defender proved to be an unsuitable means. Amenyido scored after a cross and shortly afterwards got the penalty kick out. The dominant promotion aspirant should have decided the game before the break. Der Jahn changed tactics and personnel and fought his way back into the game.

After Albers’ header, the crowd was there too. Regensburg didn’t give up after Kyereh’s goal after a fine one-two with Burgstaller. After Otto’s 2: 3, Regensburg put on enormous pressure. Pauli faltered, but survived six minutes of stoppage time.
