An appearance by Kim Kardashian and Lagerfeld’s cat Choupette was supposed to be the highlight of the last Met Gala. But nothing came of it.

The Met Gala took place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York at the beginning of May. The motto of the evening was the tribute to the fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld (1933-2019), who died in 2019. For this occasion, Kim Kardashian (43) wanted to pose on the red carpet with a special guest. But the date with Choupette, the French Birman cat with blue eyes that the late fashion czar loved dearly, fell through before the event. Because the first meeting between the two turned out differently than expected according to the British “Daily Mail” is showing a current episode of “The Kardashians”.

“The Unapproachable One”

“I want to spend some time with her, get to know her and just see if we’re a good fit,” Kardashian said before meeting in Paris. “Guys, will this cat like me?” the TV star asked those present shortly before the meeting and added nervously: “I really feel like I’m on a blind date.” Lucas Berullier, the cat’s agent, and Françoise Caçote, the carer, then brought Choupette into the room in a Louis Vuitton bag.

When the four-legged friend was allowed out of the bag and Kim Kardashian greeted him with “Hello, baby” and started petting the cat, it quickly showed what she thought of it. She hissed at the reality TV star and turned her head away. “I think Choupette is playing the unapproachable one, maybe she needs to warm up to me first,” said the 43-year-old, who was initially unimpressed and described the cat as “temperamental.”

But when she hissed at her while holding her in her arms and Kardashian shrank back, she drew a conclusion. “There are so many factors that I think could have a negative impact, especially because of the cameras and the people,” the entrepreneur explained. “Even if she’s afraid of the cameras and not me. I don’t know if it’s fair to Choupette, and I think I realized very quickly that we weren’t a good match, so I’m not bringing her to the Met.”

At the end of April, Kardashian also released a series of pictures of the special encounter. “Had a date in Paris,” she explained of the more harmonious photos, in which she poses on a bed with the cat at a safe distance. “Then we spent some time in Karl Lagerfeld’s office to get a little inspiration for the Met.”

Choupette was celebrated in a different way at the Met Gala in her absence: Hollywood star Jared Leto (51) portrayed the cat in a fur costume and appeared in probably the most spectacular look of the evening.
