Together with his wife Camilla, King Charles unveiled two statues in memory of his late parents.

King Charles III (74) took part in the traditional Festival of Remembrance at London’s Royal Albert Hall on Saturday (November 11th). The event commemorates Britain’s fallen soldiers. Before the 74-year-old attended the event with his family, there was a special item on the program.

In front of the Royal Albert Hall, the British monarch unveiled a bronze statue of his late mother Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022), which was covered by a red curtain that Charles pulled back with an attached rope. His wife, Queen Camilla (76), also previously unveiled a statue of Charles’ father Prince Philip (1921-2021).

The life-size statues, intended to commemorate the Queen and her husband’s commitment to the Royal Albert Hall, were According to the British Daily Mail, it was built as part of the building’s 150th anniversary. The commission for the sculptures is said to have been awarded through a competition in which seven sculptors were shortlisted. They were supported by the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust, a charity promoting British craftsmanship. In the end, artist Poppy Field was happy about the special honor.

Following the emotional moment, the royal couple entered the Royal Albert Hall. To the event They were accompanied by Prince William (41) and Princess Kate (41), Prince Edward (59) and his wife Duchess Sophie (58), Princess Anne (73) and her husband Sir Tim Laurence (68), the Duke (79) and the Duchess of Gloucester (77) and the Duke of Kent (88). Together they watched performances by, among others, British soul singer Mica Paris (54), pop star Calum Scott (35) and tenor Alfie Boe (50). The event ended with those in attendance singing “God Save The King” and applauding, after which Charles waved to the crowd.
