King Charles + Queen Camilla: Criticism for appearance in Kenya

King Charles and Queen Camilla are currently traveling through Kenya. Now the royal couple has been criticized for a visit to the Nairobi National Park – by one of Duchess Meghan’s confidants.

King Charles, 74, and Queen Camilla, 76, are currently visiting Kenya. Of all people, royal reporter Omid Scobie, 42, who is friends with Prince Harry, 39, and Duchess Meghan, 42, and was involved in their biography “Finding Freedom,” criticized the royal couple for their recent appearance in the African country.

King Charles and Queen Camilla seem “ridiculous and out of touch”

On his Twitter account, the aristocratic expert shared a photo that shows Charles and Camilla in the Nairobi National Park. The two were apparently brought there in a jeep. What is striking: A red carpet has been rolled out for the royal couple, which leads over the earthen ground of the park. And that’s exactly Scobie’s point of criticism. In his opinion, this would make Charles and Camilla appear as if they had lost touch with reality. This was probably a decision by the Kenyan hosts. Nevertheless, Buckingham Palace employees could have easily intervened and prevented this faux pas.

Decision of the hosts?

Commenting on the tweeted image, Scobie wrote: “Even if this was a decision by the hosts (and it probably was), the impression of the King and Queen walking on a red carpet to avoid the ground in Nairobi National Park is quite strong ridiculous and outlandish. An enlightened palace employee could have simply removed it.”

“That looks strange”

Another royal expert counters: According to the Daily Mail, Chris Ship emphasizes that Camilla put on her hiking boots to bottle-feed baby elephants during the same visit to the national park. “Kenyans were very keen on red carpets,” he says. “I’ve seen more of it here than on any other royal tour.” Nevertheless, he also admits: “But otherwise agree: that looks strange.”
