King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark
Danish royals are welcomed in Sweden
Last week, King Frederik and Queen Mary set off from Denmark by yacht for Sweden. Now they have arrived.
What a warm welcome in Sweden: King Frederik For Mary and Frederik, it is the first trip abroad as a royal couple.
In Stockholm, the two were initially welcomed on board the yacht by Crown Princess Victoria (46) and Prince Daniel (50), beaming with joy and with warm hugs. as a video on Instagram shows. They then took the gold-plated boat to land, where King Carl XVI was already there. Gustaf (78) and Queen Silvia (80) were waiting. In addition, a gun salute was fired and music was played by Sweden’s Royal Guard.
In another Instagram post a group photo was shared at the palace. Victoria and Daniel’s two children, Princess Estelle (12) and Prince Oscar (8), as well as Prince Carl Philip of Sweden (44) and his wife Sofia (39) also joined them there.
Mary in blue and white, Victoria and Silvia in pink and pink
The three royal ladies once again provided fashion highlights. Queen Mary arrived in a white midi dress, over which she wore a dark blue coat and matching headpiece. Victoria wore a pink ensemble and a bow in her hair. Silvia came in a bright pink tweed suit with a yellow check pattern.
From Sweden on to Norway
Frederik and Mary’s state visit from May 6th to 7th also includes a meeting with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (60). A visit to a military facility is also planned. After their stay in Sweden, Mary and Frederik continue towards Norway, where they are welcomed by King Harald V (87) and Queen Sonja (86) in Oslo.
Frederik and Mary have been a royal couple since January
Frederik and Mary have been the new Danish royal couple since January 14th. Frederik’s mother, the former Queen Margrethe (84), surprised the nation in her New Year’s speech in 2024 by announcing that she would abdicate as monarch in January after 52 years.
