The comedy series "Check Check" with Klaas Heufer-Umlauf starts its second season. So he became a "grandmime of international stature".
Klaas Heufer-Umlauf (37) is no longer just part of the moderator duo Joko and Klaas at the side of Joko Winterscheidt (41). In addition to his TV shows, he is also successful as a singer and actor. The second season of his comedy series "Check Check" will start on October 15, 2020 on the Joyn streaming service. In an interview with the news agency spot on news, Heufer-Umlauf talks about the filming during the Corona crisis, working at the side of his partner Doris Golpashin (40) and his personal skills as an actor.
How proud were you when it became clear that there would be a second season of "Check Check"?
Klaas Heufer-Umlauf: Very proud! The first season was designed to be passed on as many things remained unresolved. I am delighted because there are still so many stories to tell about the airport and the individual people. In this respect we are proud that we, Florida Film, have the opportunity to do so.
In addition to all sorts of slapstick, a serious, sometimes even depressing frame is always omnipresent in the series. Did you want to express exactly this ambivalence?
Heufer-Umlauf: I think humor works particularly well when you feel a counterbalance. Unreflected happiness, I think, leads to indifference at some point. It is usually only humor when it arises out of a situation in which one does not expect it.
What makes a good comedy series for you? Which series do you like yourself?
Heufer-Umlauf: I like to watch a lot of different series and am a big fan of "jerks." For me, this is one of the most complex and interesting projects there is currently. I also like German series with an international look like "How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast)".
What did you change in season two compared to season one?
Heufer-Umlauf: I have become a truly fantastic actor. A grandmime of international stature. I've seen a lot of films with good actors and learned a lot from them. I can be compared to the early Richard Gere.
Your partner Doris Golpashin is once again part of the party. Was there a moment when you regretted your commitment together?
Heufer-Umlauf: On the contrary. Every day that we worked together, I was all the more pleased that we had the opportunity. It's just awesome!
You shot half of the second season before Corona – the second in the middle of Corona times. Did you notice a difference?
Heufer-Umlauf: We have installed all infection protection measures and strictly adhered to them with great discipline in order to be able to work together responsibly and sensibly. Of course we noticed a big difference during the shoot. You won't notice the result.
How refreshing is it for you not to answer a question about Joko Winterscheidt in an interview?
Heufer-Umlauf: I like to talk about my friend Joko Winterscheidt. I love him with all my heart. Every day that I don't think about him is a lost day.
