Knit nest warmer yourself
The blanket will be approx. 130 cm x 170 cm without fringes.
What you need to knit the blanket:
Lang Yarns yarn, Quality "Virginia" (100% new wool superwash, running length approx. 50 m / 100 g): 2700 g in gray no. 3. One long circular knitting needle 9 and one thick crochet hook to tie in the fringes
Basic pattern: Rows 1 to 6: GARTER ST = K every row. Rows 7th to 10th: STOCKING K = K right st, P from back row. Always repeat 1st to 10th rows.
Tension gauge: 9 sts by 14 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm.
How to do it:
Cast on 120 sts and knit the basic pattern. When the piece measures approx. 170 cm, cast off the sts after the 6th row in pattern. Knot 1 fringe in each M at the cast-on and cast-off edge. Cut a 25 cm long thread for each fringe. Fold the thread in half, pull the loop through the M with the crochet hook, then pull the end threads through the loop.
Knit the blanket in a rib pattern
What you need to knit the blanket:
Approx. 2300 g light gray wool, color 234-906, quality "Clou" (75% new wool, 25% polyacrylic, barrel length 85 m / 50 g) from Junghans, material price approx. 130 euros. 1 Circular knitting needle No. 20 (100 cm long).
How to do it:
Rib pattern with 4-fold thread: Beginning row: * 2 sts left, 2 sts right, 2 sts left, 2 sts right, 2 sts left, 1 st right, 2 sts left, 1 st right, repeat from * 4 times, end with 2 sts left, 2 sts right, 2 sts left, 2 sts right, 2 sts left. In all following rows work the stitches as they appear.
Knitting sample: Knit in rib pattern results in 5 sts x 8 rows = 10 x 10 cm. Cast on 80 sts and knit rib. Loosely bind off all stitches 2 meters from the stop.
Knit blanket with neon edge
Time required: 25 hours (blanket), 8 hours (pillow) Difficulty level: medium
What you need:Wool quality "Boston" from Schachenmayr SMC (70% acrylic, 30% new wool, length approx. 55 m / 50 g). Ceiling – this is how it works: Cast on 156 stitches in medium gray, knit one row. Then work 230 rows in stocking stitch (right row, purl reverse row). End with a row on the right, pick up 156 stitches for the cord edge from the four side edges.
Cord edge:
Knit 3 stitches with neon pink at the beginning of the binding off round (see above right). * Knit 2 stitches, knit the next two stitches twisted together (1 neon stitch with one medium gray stitch). Slip these three stitches back onto the left needle. Repeat from * to the last stitch. Cast off the last three stitches and sew up the thread.
Pillowcase – this is how it works:
Cast on 54 stitches in medium gray and knit 162 rows (= 90 cm) in stocking stitch. Put the pillow inside out and take up stitches all around for the edge of the cord: 3 times 54 sts on the side edges and 54 sts from the break edge (the place where the 90 cm is folded to 45 cm) = 216 sts Knit the cord edge in neon pink (see blanket). Knit stitches – this is how it works:
With the right needle, knit a stitch out of the first stitch in the row, pull the loop a little longer and twist it onto the left needle, do not remove the right needle, but pull through the next loop and lift it back onto the left needle. Chunky knit blanket
For a blanket of approx. 140 cm x 160 cm you need wick wool, e.g. 1700g "Arktis" (barrel length 100m / 100g) from www.wolland.de or 1500g "Malou" (barrel length 65m / 50g) from www.langyarns.com. And a circular knitting needle size 9-10, 1 m long.
Basic pattern:
The number of stitches must be divisible by 12 so that the pattern repeat works. There is also an edge stitch on each side. The edge stitches are always knitted on the right.

For the lower and upper edge of the blanket before the first cable and after the last cable 6 rows in stocking st. knit. Cast on 194 sts (1 row + 192 sts + 1 round st) and repeat the pattern continuously in width and height.
Patchwork blanket (for advanced users)
What you need (for a 150 x 125 cm blanket): Gedifra Cashmerino (55% merino wool extra fine, 35% polyacrylic, 10% cashmere), each 400 g in color 4866 linden, 4881 petrol, 350 g in color 4835 heather and 450 g in color 4816 silver, 2 knitting needles size 4.5, 1 long circular needle size 4.5 mm, 1 Darning needle.
Basic pattern: a) Large moss stitch (for the patches) 1st row: K 1 st, knit 1 alternately 2nd row: Knit sts as they appear 3rd row: K 1, 1 st left alternating 4th row: knit sts as they appear. Repeat these 4 rows.
b) In stocking stitch (for the border) knit 1st round left st, 2nd round right st.
That's how it works: The blanket consists of 30 patches: 8 patches each in lime green and petrol, 7 patches each in heather and silver: cast on 50 stitches and knit 66 rows in a moss stitch. Knit 30 patches and sew together five patch strips (consisting of 6 patches) in any color sequence. Then sew the strips together to make the ceiling. Knit the border in gray in stocking stitch.
Knit 300 sts from the long edges and 250 sts from the transverse edges from the right side (= 1100 sts). Work the border in four parts: from the lower center to the side center, further to the upper center, etc., mark the corner stitches. Purl 1 st before and after corner stitch on every round. Knit a total of 5 rows, then bind off sts. Join the open edges together.
