Known from “Full House” – US actor Bob Saget found dead in a hotel

Bob Saget, a US comedian who inspired millions of people as the star of the television series “Full House” in the 1980s and 1990s, was found dead in a hotel room in the USA. Orange County police in the US state of Florida announced on Sunday evening that police officers found an “unresponsive man in a hotel room” at a Ritz-Carlton hotel that morning.

The man was identified as Robert Saget and pronounced dead on the spot. The investigators found no evidence of a criminal background or “drug use,” wrote the police on Twitter. Saget was 65 years old.

The comedian was on a US tour and had performed a few hours earlier in the city of Jacksonville, Florida. After the performance, he thanked the “enthusiastic audience” on Twitter. He didn’t even notice that his performance lasted two hours and he was “happy to be addicted to this crap again”. He also promoted the upcoming dates of his show.

The comedian played the widower Danny Tanner in the US series “Full House”, who is overwhelmed with everyday family life with his three daughters after the death of his wife. The television journalist asks his brother-in-law and best friend to move in with him and help with his upbringing. The series ran in the US for eight seasons, from 1987 to 1995. The US streaming service Netflix broadcast a sequel that focused on one of Danny’s daughters, DJ Tanner, and ran from 2016 to 2020.

Actor John Stamos, who played Uncle Jesse in the hit series, wrote on Twitter that he was “broken” and “devastated”. “I’ll never have a boyfriend like him again.”

Saget also hosted America’s Funniest Home Videos, which was very popular before hilarious amateur videos became widely available on the YouTube video service. He was also the English narrator in the cult series “How I met your mother”.

George Takei, who played the role of Hikaru Sulu in the Star Trek television series “Spaceship Enterprise”, said he was “deeply saddened by the early death” of the comedian. “Loved by millions of people as America’s dad, he was a regular presence in our living rooms, brought us the funniest videos and tons of laughs,” wrote Takei.

Saget was born in Philadelphia in 1956. He had three children with his first wife, Sherri Kramer Saget – twins Aubrey and Lara and Jennifer. His second marriage was to Kelly Rizzo.
