Mourning for “Lindenstrasse” host Kostas Papanastasiou: According to “Tagesspiegel”, the actor died at the age of 84.

Mourning for Kostas Papanastasiou. According to “Der Tagesspiegel”, the star from the series “Lindenstrasse” died at the age of 84. This is reported by the newspaper, citing “the closer circle of friends” of the actor.

Kostas Papanastasiou suffered from dementia

It is not yet known what the 84-year-old died of. Most recently, the actor’s son Marc-Alexej told “Bild” that Papanastasiou had dementia. At the end of 2019, the actor therefore moved into assisted living with his wife. “He noticed that he was forgetting things. He fell in front of the house and broke his pelvis. With that he had to go to the hospital. Later he came to assisted living,” said his son.

Kostas Papanastasiou, who was born in 1937 in Karditsa, Greece, embodied the innkeeper Panaiotis Sarikakis, who ran the “Acropolis” in “Lindenstrasse”. The role that made him famous he played from 1985 to 1996. In addition to acting, Papanastasiou appeared as a musician. In Berlin he also ran a Greek pub that also gave concerts. His son took over in 2018. In 2012 Kostas Papanastasiou was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit for his social commitment.
