FCN and SCP shock each other

The second Bundesliga has a new table leader: Karlsruher SC rolls over Darmstadt 98 on the second day of the match and is at the top for at least one night. In Paderborn, 1. FC Nürnberg made a lightning comeback in four minutes – but FCN was shocked late.

SC Paderborn – 1. FC Nürnberg 2: 2 (1: 0)

After a late goal, 1. FC Nürnberg missed their first win of the season in the 2. Bundesliga. At SC Paderborn, the Franks came to a 2: 2 (0: 1), they are now with two points from two games. An own goal by Jannik Huth (54th) and striker Manuel Schäffler (58th) with his first goal of the season initially turned the game in favor of the guests who had fallen behind due to Jannis Heuer (19th). In the final phase, Sven Michel (85th) managed to equalize Paderborn.

Before Heuer’s hit, Nuremberg’s Johannes Geis was clearly fouled – surprisingly, however, video assistant Pascal Müller (Löchgau) did not check the scene. After the goal, Paderborn took control and pushed for the 2-0 – Nuremberg survived the pressure phase of the hosts and fought their way back in the second round. A shot from Mats Möller Daehli hit the post, from there onto Huth’s back and into the goal. Only four minutes later, Möller Daehli Schäffler gave the opening goal.

In a thrilling final phase, Nuremberg seemed closer to the third goal – Felix Lohkemper (76th) hit the post. Shortly afterwards, Paderborn’s Felix Platte (77.) made a technical error on a counterattack and missed the huge opportunity to equalize.

Karlsruher SC – SV Darmstadt 98 3: 0 (1: 0)

Corona worries and bad luck: SV Darmstadt 98 also lost the second game of the new season. At Karlsruher SC, the lilies lost 0: 3 (0: 1). The KSC, on the other hand, took their second victory and is temporarily at the top of the table.

Seven players were not available to Darmstadt trainer Torsten Lieberknecht due to the mandatory corona quarantine. After all, newcomer Nemanja Celic, goalkeeper Marcel Schschuhe and offensive man Ensar Arslan were released from isolation after intensive discussions with the health department. In the past week, three players of the lilies not named by name had tested positive for Corona.

So it’s no surprise that the hosts found their way into the game better. Consequently, Philipp Hofmann achieved the early lead (9th) for the Karlsruhe team, who then had the match under control. Jerome Gondorf even had a great chance of making it 2-0 before the break. The captain put his shot on the crossbar (26th).

In the second half, Darmstadt became more dangerous. An open exchange of blows developed in front of 9750 spectators. In the 56th minute, the supposed equalizer for the guests: Phillip Tietz is offside when he finishes from almost five meters. Kyoung-rok Choi (76th) and again Hofmann (79th) made the decision with a double strike.
