By informing his leaders of his intention to leave PSG at the end of the season, Kylian Mbappé opened the door to Real Madrid, who have wanted to recruit him for several years already. By packing his bags in the Spanish capital, the French striker would favor the sporting side, but could, in the future, win big.

Kylian Mbappé will therefore leave PSG this summer! Thursday evening, the day after an important victory in the Champions League, the 2018 world champion announced to his leaders his intention to leave at the end of the season. At the end of his contract with the capital club, the captain of the France team should join his favorite club, Real Madrid. A sporting choice more than financial.

Towards a big signing bonus?

Real Madrid will not be able to offer him a salary as high as Paris Saint-Germain. “We are talking about a contract which should be around 40 million euros, where today he earns rather 60 million euros in salary, so one and a half times less, which should be around 4 million euros per month, a little less”, explains Vincent Chaudel, sports economist and founder of the Sport Business Observatory. But if Kylian Mbappé loses his salary, that does not necessarily mean that he will earn less by leaving for the Madrid club.

“We have to look at the income in its entirety, as Real will not have any transfer compensation to pay, this should be compensated by a signing bonus which will be significant,” he assures microphone from Europe1. According to him, Real’s business model is to have star players and share marketing contracts with them. “So, all in all, I think we can be reassured about Mbappé’s economic future. He is not going to leave in bad conditions, he is not going to arrive in bad conditions either,” reassures the economist.

Especially since in sporting terms, the Merengues club is renowned for creating or recruiting future Golden Balls. If Kylian Mbappé were to win one, then he would open the door to bigger contracts and therefore an even bigger salary.
