The future of Kylian Mbappé has been at the heart of the sports news of the last 24 hours. In question, a letter sent by the player to the management of PSG in which he indicates that he does not want to exercise the option of an additional year appearing in his contract. What would a summer on the transfer market be without a rumor around the future of Kylian Mbappé? According to information from the newspaper The Team, the Paris Saint-Germain striker would have taken a major decision on Monday by refusing to exercise the option of an additional year appearing in his contract. The Bondynois would have made it known to the club by means of a letter sent at the end of the day. Clearly, Kylian Mbappé, whose contract will end in the summer of 2024, has three options: extend now with PSG, go free next summer or leave the club now. This last possibility would allow PSG to recover transfer compensation on a player estimated at 180 million euros by the reference site Transfermarkt – the amount of his transfer from AS Monaco to PSG.
Anyway, the announcement had the effect of a bomb. Surprised, the club would not have appreciated the approach of the 2018 world champion. And would not consider under any circumstances a free departure of its attacker at the end of next season. For PSG, the deal is simple: either Mbappé extends his contract, or he will be sold in the coming weeks. This Tuesday, The Parisian rightly indicated that Kylian Mbappé wanted to join Real Madrid this summer and thus take advantage of the departure of Karim Benzema in Saudi Arabia.

A development which corroborates his remarks made during the UNFP trophy ceremony where he received, two weeks ago, the trophy for best player in Ligue 1. The former Monegasque assured then that he would indeed be Parisian at the during the 2023-2024 financial year. Asked only two days before the famous letter was sent, Florentino Perez, the president of Real Madrid, also seemed to confirm this trend. To the question “are you going to recruit Kylian Mbappé”, the Spanish leader replied: “Yes … but not this year”. “Kylian Mbappé did not ask to leave this summer but just confirmed to the club the non-activation of his additional year,” said the player and his entourage in a press release sent to AFP on Tuesday.
Anyway, the future of the Bondynois at the Parc des Princes is dotted. The tricolor striker would have perceived the club’s unambitious transfer window last summer as a broken promise to him. And the premature elimination of PSG in the Coupe de France and the Champions League this season would have only increased the frustration of Kylian Mbappé. The summer of 2023 will be hot and flammable at Paris Saint-Germain.
