The Samsung AirDresser is a drying cabinet. Like most dryers, it relies on a heat pump. This technology makes it possible to limit energy consumption, but also to never raise the temperature above 60°C in order to dry textiles without damaging them. If it looks like it, the AirDresser has nothing to do with a dryer since it comes in the form of a cabinet. In fact, its design does not give it the vocation to support kilos of laundry: the AirDresser dries mainly on hangers and it can only accommodate three.

It is therefore a question here of drying shirts, T-shirts or even suit pants after going through the washing machine. The purpose of the maneuver is to dry the clothes while smoothing them thanks to jets of water vapor propelled during the cycle. It should therefore be possible to put on your shirt or T-shirt directly from the Samsung AirDresser.

We tested the Samsung AirDresser on two separate cycles. The first is “AI drying”: the AirDresser automatically sets the right drying time depending on the textiles present. To do this, we placed a cotton T-shirt and two joggers in the drying cabinet after a quick run through the washing machine. A tricky test for this device, since thick cotton is a relatively long material to dry completely.

After waiting two hours, the device informs us that the drying cycle is finished. If the cotton clothes seemed rather dry (and slightly creased), we found that there was still 26% humidity. In comparison, the same clothes only retained 12% moisture at the end of the equivalent LG Styler cycle, which more or less corresponds to the result of the “iron dry” programs found on tumble dryers. laundry.

We also tested the “shirts” program. After washing a shirt, we placed it, damp, in the wardrobe. The program lasted 55 minutes in total against 50 announced, but the shirt came out without any trace of humidity. In addition, it has been partially smoothed. The result is nevertheless disappointing on this point: thanks to a jet of steam extracted directly from the hangers, the top of the clothes is certainly correctly smoothed, but the same cannot be said for the bottom and the sleeves. The steam diffused by the bottom of the cabin does not therefore seem very effective.

This drying function for “blouses” is relevant in the sense that the user can directly place his shirt in the AirDresser after a cycle in the washing machine. It will come out a little wrinkled and dry. It should be noted all the same that, if the smoothing of the shirt is suitable for everyday use, we will recommend a real iron to wear it on special occasions.

The drying function of the Samsung AirDresser therefore finds its main use for a shirt or a T-shirt to be worn the same day, since it slightly smoothes the garment in addition to drying it.

You will be able to find the AirDresser test in its entirety from Wednesday 19 January.
