The people of Glarus who are entitled to vote vote on a few controversial transactions. Seven agenda items are significantly fewer than in other years.
Landammann Benjamin Mühlemann opened the community with a speech. Right from the start he emphasized that the future could only be shaped positively through dialogue and compromise. The rural community is the best example of this. He also advocated cooperation in Europe and increased spending in the army. Benjamin Mühlemann (FDP) is now stepping down as a member of the government – he is now a member of the state council.
The mayor and the state governor were elected from among the elected members of the government council: The new president of the government council is Kaspar Becker (Die Mitte). Normally this choice is uncontested. This year the name of Andrea Bettiga (FDP) was also called. Becker was clearly elected Landamman. Bettiga will be his deputy.

Bicycle routes and social services
One bill is about promoting bicycle traffic. The cantonal bicycle path law should clearly regulate who is responsible for the planning, construction and operation of bicycle paths. The Veloweg specialist department is also to be increased in terms of staff.
Under the Social Assistance Act, the three social service bases are to be brought together at a central location in Glarus.

Guests of honor of the Glarus District Administrator (the cantonal parliament) are the members of the council management of the Cantonal Council of the Canton of Obwalden.
