Large property damage – AG: Unknown people blow up ATMs and flee with cash – News

  • Unknown perpetrators blew up a free-standing ATM in Oberentfelden AG during the night.
  • The perpetrators fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to the police.
  • The ATM of the Aargauische Kantonalbank (AKB) was at a gas station.

Shortly after 3:30 a.m., several residents in Oberentfelden and Muhen AG reported that they had just heard several loud bangs, according to the Aargau cantonal police. Several patrols from the cantonal and regional police immediately moved out.

On site, the police found a great deal of devastation. The perpetrators had already fled. According to the police, it is very likely that a dark-colored sports car was used as the getaway vehicle. Because the ATM was probably blown up with explosives, the federal prosecutor took over the procedure. The investigations are being carried out in coordination between the Office of the Attorney General, the Federal Office of Police (fedpol) and the cantonal police of Aargau.

ATM demolitions are spectacular, but not necessarily rare. In 2019, for example, fedpol recorded 22 cases.
